BG11 Recipe
Iron/Citrate Stock 1 10 mL
Magnesium Stock 2 10 mL
Phosphate Stock 3 10 mL
Microelements Stock 5 1.0 mL
NaNO3 1.5 g
Na2CO3 0.02 g
To 1 L Distilled H20
Adjust pH to 7.5 with HCl

Iron/Citrate Stock 1:
Na2Mg EDTA 0.1 g
Ferric ammonium citrate 0.6 g
Citric acid H2O 0.6 g
CaCl2 2H2O 3.6 g
To 1 L Distilled H20
Magnesium Stock 2:
MgSO4 H2O 7.5 g
to 1 L Distilled H20
Phosphate Stock 3:
K2HPO4 3H2O 4.0 g
To 1 L Distilled H20
Micro-Elements Stock 5:
H3BO3 2.86 g
MnCl2 4H2O 1.81 g
ZnSO4 7H2O 0.222 g
CuSO4 5H2O 0.079 g
CoCl2 6H2O 0.050 g
NaMoO4 2H2O 0.391 g
to 1 L Distilled H20

Agar Plates
- Prepared 2x BG 11 (200 or 400 mL) + 10 mM TES pH 8.2.
- Prepare 3% w/v Agar in milliQ H20 + 1 mg Na-Thiosulphate (200 mL or 400 mL)
- Autoclave both solution
- Let them cool to about 50 °C, mix equal volumes, then pour plates
